Skipness Castle Itinerary
Skipness Castle sits on the East of Kintyre facing the Isle of Arran across the Kilbrannon sound. The castle, although a ruin, is maintained and is a fantastic example of the Scottish clan fortresses of its time. It has an added advantage that you can have lunch at the famous Skipness Seafood Cabin which is nearby. The description and prices below are based on a trip from the Tarbert Area which of course can be changed to suit your starting point.
Skipness Castle Tour
After picking you and your group/family up from your accommodation we will take you down the West Loch Tarbert road and then head onto a single track road towards Skipness.
After summiting the hill you will be presnted with your first view of the mountains of Arran across the Kilbrannon Sound. Twenty minutes later we will arrive at Skipness Castle.
Your driver/guide will show you around the amazing ruin and then allow you to enjoy the atmosphere of the place. Nearby is the ruin of the associated chapel.
We allow an hour and half to fully take in the history of this place and to enjoy the local scenery and wildlife before we head back to your accommodation. (you can add on time to go to the Sea Food Cabin if you tell us when booking.)
You will be taken back to your starting point about 3 hours after your departure.
